Required topics
| Topic | Hours | How often | Applies to | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Opioid & controlled-substance prescribing | 2 | Every cycle | DEA registrants | Misuse and abuse of controlled substances, opioid prescribing or addiction, for APRNs authorized to prescribe or dispense controlled substances |
| Suicide prevention | 2 | Every cycle | Everyone | Suicide prevention and awareness when required under NRS 632.343 for the renewal period |
Notes. NAC 632.291 (Nevada Board of Nursing): APRNs, a category that includes CRNAs, attest to 45 hours of continuing education directly related to their role or population focus per two years (may include RN renewal CE), plus maintained national certification for those who completed their program on or after 7/1/2014. This resolves the earlier uncertainty about 15 hours in a CRNA FAQ that I did not read. Confirm with the board.

Notes. Nevada licenses anesthesiologist assistants through the Board of Medical Examiners (NRS 630.2683, NAC 630.918, effective April 2024). Renewal is June 30 of odd-numbered years with proof of current NCCAA certification and 40 hours of Board-approved or AMA Category 1 continuing education (30, 20 or 10 hours if licensed later in the period). Also 2 hours of SBIRT training and a terrorism course within 2 years of licensure.

Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants usually also maintain national certification, which has its own cycle. The recertification basics guide explains how that fits alongside state rules.
