Notes. ARSD 20:62:02:06 (nurse practitioner renewal, sdlegislature.gov): biennial renewal requires evidence of an unencumbered SD RN license or privilege to practice, evidence of current national certification, and an affidavit of no misconduct; I saw no CE-hour item in the rule. Hours recorded as 0 means no state hour count was found; national certifier CE applies. Confirm with the Board of Nursing.

Notes. SDCL 36-4A-32 (30 hours of board-approved post-graduate study in the preceding 12 months, NCCPA certification as an alternative, per a statute mirror) now appears as a Repealed section on sdlegislature.gov, so the current PA CE requirement was not found. Confirm with the Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.

Notes. Secondary source; confirm with the board. The CU Anschutz AA program list (states where AAs work by license, regulation or certification, or by physician delegation) and the BYU 2023 list of authorized states do not include South Dakota, so no state licensure for anesthesiologist assistants was found. Not read on a board or statute page.

Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants usually also maintain national certification, which has its own cycle. The recertification basics guide explains how that fits alongside state rules.
